  2. Reactants—what goes in to a chemical reaction or what is on the left side of the arrow in a chemical equation. • Products—what comes out of a chemical reaction or what is on the right side of the arrow in a chemical equation.

Photosynthesis equation 6CO2 + 6H2O sunlight C6H12O6 + 6O2 carbon dioxide + water sunlight glucose (sugar) + oxygen Reactants Products The arrow means “yields,” which is the same as produces or an equals sign in a math problem. Sunlight is written above the arrow to show that it has to be present for the reaction to occur.
