  1. What we did in class today: Tuesday September 4, 2012 Agenda for the week. Reminder about Wednesday’s pictures and Friday’s Safety Assessment. How I might grade your classwork performance. Entry Task: Questions from the Galileo homework reading from last week. I will be making you a Discovery account in the coming weeks to do homework. Galileo Reading Re-arranging: Partners will take each sentence of the Galileo reading and put the essay back together. As we work I’ll give you hints to guide you. We’ll review the value of a topic sentence and it’s role in a paragraph. Galileo clip: We watched a 2 minute clip about his life. Ask Galileo: students will each write down two questions that they could ask Galileo after reading the article and viewing the clip. Students will take turns being Galileo and answer their partners questions.

Entry Task Record your answers to these questions in your lab book underneath last nights notes. • What do falling objects, inclined planes and pendulums have in common? • What things in our daily lives are similar to the objects in Galileo’s experiments? • Why were Galileo’s thoughts about science so revolutionary in his day? • Choose 2 out of the 3 to answer. • You do not need to write out the questions. • Use the question in your answer. • Have it finished by the time I’m done with roll. Ex: Galileo’s thoughts were revolutionary because……

  6. Galileo Reading Rearranging • In your envelope you’ll find the reading cut apart by sentences. • If the sentence is larger and bold that is the opening sentence to a paragraph. What do we call that sentence? • You and your partner will work together to rearrange the sentence strips into the original article. • Please be careful to not lose any strips. 2,5,2,4

Now turn to your partner and one of you pretend to be Galileo. Ask Galileo the questions you wrote down. Galileo-put yourself in his place at his time in history.
