  2. The War Powers Resolution • The act requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action. • 60 days to seek formal approval from Congress after engaging in hostilities. • The possibility of a 30-day extension. I’LL ANSWER THIS!

  3. Primary Conflict Between the President and Congress Regarding War A.) The President is Commander in Chief. B.) Congress has the power to declare war.

  4. How Does the War Powers Act limit the Presidents Ability to go to war? President must notify Congress within 48 hours of sending troops into combat. President must consult with Congress whenever possible. Conflicts are limited to 60 days unless Congress takes action. Congress can extend time from the initial 60 days or can withdraw troops after 60 days with adequate notification to the President.
