The opening slide of the presentation has a speaking activity linked with it, then go through the pictures to explain what happens during Shabbat (learning about) and then go through it again with the extra slides that focus a little more on ‘learning from’…

    3. Bringing in Shabbat Look carefully at the next slide. Think about what you can see – try to remember at least 2 things.

    5. Bringing in Shabbat Now talk to a partner about what you remember seeing.

    16. Bringing in Shabbat Did you notice how the word God was shown? G-d. Many Jews think the name of God is so important and special that you shouldn’t say it (or spell it). This is why the ‘o’ is not put into the word. Think of someone that is very special to you and talk about them with a partner

    18. Bringing in Shabbat Think about how having a special prayer said for you at Shabbat might make the children feel? As a class we will now make a list of some of those ‘feelings’ words. Now we will choose one of the ‘feelings’ words and write a class poem about it.

    24. Bringing in Shabbat Did you notice how everyone takes a sip of wine, everyone washes their hands, everyone takes a bite of the bread, everyone shares a meal together? Shabbat is a time which the family shares together. Talk with a partner about things that you do together with your class, family and friends.
