  2. INTRODUCTION: Several governments have decided that restructuring is required to maximize consumer choice, promote competition and improve the quality and variety of services and to enhance efficiency of state‑owned enterprises.

  4. POWER MARKET DEVELOPMENT IN ASIA:- Power market in developing countries.

THAILAND'S EGAT:- EGAT has responsibility of providing electric power for the whole country by generating, transmitting and selling bulk power to two-distribution agencies‑the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). EGAT'S mission has been also to expand generation and transmission capacities and accelerate electrical supply to rural areas.

SYSTEM STRUCTURE OF EGAT • GERNERATION • About 85% of the installed capacity is from EGAT. • TRANSMISSION • EGAT Transmission system is interconnected and • divided in 5 regional service grid. • TRANSITION PROCESS OF EGAT • STAGE-I EGAT as primary power purchaser. • STAGE-II EGAT as central supplier of power. • STAGE-III Introducing a competitive whole sale market

The paper does not propose a model, which is the best For all developing countries. It however, emphasizes That the model proposed is suitable for developing Asian countries
