Gilead Compass Initiative®: Offering Strategic and Financial Resources to Fight HIV When you are a part of a non-profit or charitable organization, the biggest challenge is to acquire funding and grants to mitigate important expenses for the mission. This becomes extremely challenging when you are working to combat a disease that has always resulted in the discrimination of the affected. Our research was topped by an excellent initiative started by Gilead Sciences, Inc. that is determined to mitigate resources to non-profit and charity organizations. Known as Gilead Compass Initiative®, it is a 10-year, $100 million commitment by Gilead Sciences, Inc that will actively work with local non-profit organizations and the Southern HIV Impact Fund to combat the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. The initiative will provide opportunities and training to these organizations through its three COMPASS Coordinating Centers located in the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, the Southern AIDS Coalition, and Emory University Rollins School of Public Health.
