  2. Standards • Adopted in February of 2007 • Marked with deltas to indicate a tested indicator • Asterisks to be removed

New Resources • Recommended K-4 grade-by-grade set of standards available at www.ksde.org • Click Educators > Standards > Science • Grades 5-7 • Integrated • Subject specific (5th E/S; 6th Physical; 7th Life) • High School • Earth/ Space indicators distributed • Target assessment vocabulary lists

  4. New Resources • Flipcharts • Focus on assessed indicators • Each indicator will have a sample test item (new items coming soon) • Available at grade 4, 7, and HS • Expected posting at the end of July • www.ksde.org • Educators • Science • Assessment

  5. Assessment • Science will be assessed annually beginning in 2007-2008 • Cut-scores will be set in summer of 2008 • Science scores will be used in school QPA calculations • Science is not used in AYP calculations at this time • Students assessed at 4th, 7th, and high school

  6. Assessment • All questions will be multiple choice • Two questions per tested indicator • Number of tested indicators • 4th grade- 23 • 7th grade- 30 • High school- 30 • Updated item specification document will be available online end of July/early August (same info found on flipcharts)

  7. Assessment • Cohort group for next year will be juniors • All juniors must take both halves of the test • Used to set cut scores • Freshmen or sophomores may also take assessment if district chooses • Opportunity to Learn will be functional in 2008-2009 • Testing window for science is March 17 through May 9
