There are two fundamental levels in which behavior can be analyzed. Proximate causes of behavior are the “how” questions. Focuses on the immediate stim. and the mechanism for the behavior. Ultimate causes are the “why” questions. Focuses on how the behavior contributes to survival and reproduction
