  2. What is a factor? • A factor is a number which multiplied by another gives a product. factors product ● All numbers have 1 pair of factors → 1 & itself. ● Number are of 2 types: 1) Prime: only 1 pair of factors 2) Composite: more than 1 pair of factors.

  3. Prime Factorization • Prime factorization is the process of breaking down a number to factors which are all prime. • Find the prime factorization of 42 42 6 7 = 2●3 ●7 2 3

  4. Factoring and GCF • Factoring is breaking a monomial into its prime factors. • Finding the GCF then is stating all the factors 2 (or more) expressions have in common

  5. Factor: 28 24x2y3 Find the GCF: 14, 56 12a5b3, 28a2b4
