  6. Why reading literatures do is so important? How would you act in the story if you are in the shoes of the main character? • How would you twist the story if you will be given the chance to revise it?

  7. Who among in the character in every story were you can see yourself? How and Why?

  8. Content Questions

  9. What is the Angelus? Are there roses actually falling while the Angelus is ringing? What message is conveyed by a bird singing and by flowers growing in the burned forest?

  10. From the story entitled “The Star of Hope still Rises” Why did Maria not want to leave the village? What aspect of the author’s character is shown in “Get A Horse, Comrade” when he prepares to fight back? What secret did the fox reveal from the story of “The Little Prince”?

  12. At the end of this unit, the students will be able to; • to learn about the poetic prose and identify the theme • to understand the free verse and doing interpretative reading • to write a poem and make it as a song • abstract information from an essay

  13. •to recognize the elements of a novel •to learn more idiomatic expressions • listen to music or to a dramatic reading • present the stories through movie maker and power point • hold an open forum • write scripts for stories to be played • Create comics strips for stories.

  15. • Explore opportunities for obtaining varied views on a given issue by listening to argumentations. • Elicit and give information using different types of questions and seek clarification and verification of response made. • Conduct ambush interviews to determine opinion on issues affecting the nation.

  16. • Demonstrate the ability to use varied ways of organizing information (e.g. graphic organizers) • Express emotional reactions to what is explicitly stated and implied in a text. • Express opinions in writing and write summaries of interview reports on a given issue. • Discover literature as a means of understanding man and society as presented in English and American Literature.

  17. React to experiences or actions of the characters in relation to real life situations. • Analyze and explain how the environment influences the person’s characters and actions. • - Deduce recurring themes underscored in literary piece.

  18. In these unit students will learned about the literature in The Contemporary Period such as poems, fiction and non-fiction and drama and work as collaborators, creative thinkers, problem solvers, technologists, self-directed learners and information users and producers.

  19. Calendar of Activities

  20. Week 1 Day 1 In this day the teacher will have an orientation for the unit. She will give the projects to be done indicate with its deadline such as for the comic strips; that will be submitted after three weeks and for movie making after 4 weeks. Day 2 The students will be divided into 3 groups and assign to discuss and perform the three poems entitled Angelus, Burned Forest and Poland. Day 3 The students will now present and discussed the poems being assigned in each group.

  21. Day 4 Students will create their own poems. Day 5 There will be an interactive quiz and give the students an assignment to have a research about non-fiction for the next topic to be discussed for the next week.

  22. Week 2 Day 1 Students will be divided into groups for brainstorming and create a concept map about non- fiction for 30 minutes. And another 30 minutes to present it to the class. For assignment each group will going to search the life of some great people of the century such as the life of great inventors, scientists, artist such as Lady Gaga, Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg that can be able to share and to serve as a model and inspiration for individual.

  23. Day 2 Each group will now going to share in class about the life of the great people they have research through Envoy. After the envoy teacher will now collect the documentation of the assignment. Day 3 In this day each student will now an autobiography of their own life. They should take down all the unforgettable moments they had encountered, how they survive and what drives them to live. For their assignment, students will choose a true to life story of a person and present it to the class through dramatization by their respective group.

  24. Day 4 The students will now perform through dramatization. Teacher will take a video for documentation. Day 5 Viewing the video of documentation presented yesterday for 30 minutes. For assignment each group will need any novel classified as psychological and write a report on it. Ensure that each student should be able to discuss in front at a maximum of 1 minute.

  25. Week 3 Day 1 Today is the presentation for reading novels (English pocketbooks; at least 20 chapters) which they had prepared for about two weeks before the presentation. Each student will be given only for 3 minutes only to tell the story of the novel they have read. Day 2 Since, each student entertain questions from their classmates after summarizing the important detail, today is the continuation for the rest of the student who have not yet perform yesterday.

  26. Day 3 The students will be having a concert reading. Day 4 Rubric for comic strips. Day 5 Final submission of comic strips in CD.

  27. WEEK 4 Day 1 Presentation of comic strips. Day 2 Continuation for presentation of comic strips.

  28. Day 3 Interactive quiz. Day 4 Rubric for the project movie making. Day 5 Submission of output in movie making content.

  29. WEEK 5 • Day 1 Presentation of the project movie making. • Day 2 Continuation for presenting movie making. • Day 3 Open forum.

  30. Day 4 Long quiz for the unit. Day 5 Checking papers with discussion.
