    16. Bright Futures Did you know? Students do not apply for Bright Futures until December of their senior year AND only have until their graduation to apply; otherwise, they forfeit all future eligibility for a Bright Futures Scholarship. Not all high school courses qualify students for a Bright Futures Scholarship. Its crucial that students and parents refer to the Bright Futures brochure for details AND visit FACTS.org to compare transcripts with Bright Futures academic requirements. Students have up to 3 years from high school graduation to begin using the scholarship. Therefore, all students should apply even if they are planning to move out of state, enlist in the military or take a few years off. Florida Medallion Scholars who enroll in and attend Florida public community colleges receive an amount equal to 100% of tuition and fees for college credit courses leading to an associate degree.

    17. If your child does not fulfill the VPS and/or test score requirements by February, please note that his/her transcript will not be evaluated until the late June transmittal.

    20. Dual Enrollment 3.0 GPA or better (Unweighted) Take CPT or ACT score- English 17 AND Reading 18 AND Math 19 (must meet all 3 minimum scores) or SAT score- Verbal 440 AND Math 440 (must meet both minimum scores)

    21. To maintain Dual Enrollment eligibility: The students unweighted high school GPA must be a 3.0 or higher. The students college GPA must be a 2.0 or higher. Students are required to attend any FCAT testing session as determined by the state of Florida even if it means missing a dual enrolled course. Failure to take a required FCAT test will disqualify them from Dual Enrollment the following term. All college textbooks must be returned to the Guidance Office immediately after dual enrollment exams.

    22. Important Considerations for Students and Parents Dual enrolled students are establishing a college GPA; therefore, it is important to understand that college admissions can be effected and, in some cases, offers of admission can be revoked if a student is unsuccessful in dual enrolled courses. Attendance in dual enrolled courses is solely the responsibility of the student.
