  4. 8-22 Objective: How to read and annotate nonfiction • Bell Work: • Explore a college website. What do you have to do to apply? To be ready for Thursday: Finish reading article—take at least one note on each page

  5. 8-23 Objective: Practice annotating on your own • Bell Work: Complete colon/semi-colon worksheet (on podium)—great for use in summaries! To be ready for Friday: Finish today’s article and get ready for a third!

  8. 8-28 Objective: Drafting • Bell Work: • Open Google Docs • Create a new Word doc • Set to Double Space • Name doc • (Last Name) Essay #1 • Start writing—body paragraphs and support are your focus—don’t stress about the intro. To be ready for Wednesday: Have at least 1 page of draft!

  9. 8-29 Objective: drafting day 2 • Bell Work: • Keep on drafting! • Keep organization on track with outline. • Focus on transitions To be ready for Thursday: Have a complete draft that we can craft

  10. 8-30 Objective: Adding creativity—transitions, adjectives, voice • Bell Work: • An adjective modifies a noun (remember). Underline all the adjectives in your essay. To be ready for Friday: Finish crafting your essay so it is ready for a peer editor. Use at least one sentence with a colon or semi-colon.

  11. 8-31 Objective: peer edit • Bell Work: • Take a copy of the essay rubric (on podium) • Read it • Check your own essay against it. Monday: Labor Day To be ready for Tuesday: Be ready to finish your essay—it will be due at the end of the class period!
