  4. PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES To show that CMI members have a valuable volunteering opportunity through SGOSS, using a wide range of business skills within school governance. There is potential for some school governor roles to generate sufficient impact for Chartered Manager recognition.

CMI GOVERNOR VIEWS Feedback from CMI members about the skills they use and have developed as School Governors Member A – Chair of Governors (up to 2009) and Finance Committee member “I’m conscious of improved decision-making...an ability to encourage working together...there’s prioritising my time, learning to understand a whole new series of acronyms, and managing volunteers.” Member B – Curriculum and Finance Committee member “Leadership, team working, negotiating, appraising, interviewing, ICT skills, writing, listening, working with young children and understanding their needs, understanding and interpreting the school curriculum, understanding statistics, School Appeals.
