  2. The Street • The street is where classes combine, functioning together. The upper class in carriages and the lower class on foot, mix in the street. The street is home to a large part of the filth in Victorian London.

  3. The mud encrusted street was avoided by the upper class who rode in carriages but the lower classes were forced to walk through the filth of the street.

  4. The filth of the street is visible by the dark color of the gutter. The upper class were spared walking through the street because they could afford carriages, while the lower classes had to walk through the street.

  5. By the turn of the century, streets even in lower class areas were paved. In this instance the street is paved with cobblestones.
