Definition • Prevention in GT is concerned with technological measures to avoid from happening certain health problems that otherwise are likely to appear or get worse in the future. • Engagement (‘moral commitment’) is the measures taken by a person him/herself to avoid certain possible future health problems happening (proactive prevention). General prevention in GT is technological measures taken to remain healthy with no particular disease in mindSpecific prevention in GT is technological measures taken to avoid particular diseases or accidents(e.g. vitamins against Age related Macula Degeneration = AMD) Public Health Engineering: fresh water supply; sewage systems, airbags, safety belts, helmets, traffic safety measures, vaccination,….. Private measures: maintain physical, cognitive (mental), and social activities; avoid unhealthy habits and diet; maintain normal blood circulation; home ventilation, hip protectors; vitamins against age-related macular degeneration (AMD), …….   7. ExampleThere exists no way to prevent or heal age-related macula degeneration(AMD) which runs partly in families. However, there are some indications that vitamins may have some positive effect.
