  2. INVESTIGATING Investigating if the fist part of the design cycle. It’s the part where people research about the task given to them. For example in my Social Studies group, we had to do a video role play on the events during and after the Filipino America war. We could not have done ANYTHING if we did not know what happened during the Filipino American war, which is exactly why we needed to research on it first. The reason it’s the first step in the design cycle is because you can’t continue with he design cycle if you don’t know what you’re doing. You need information before you can start with anything else. How can you design or plan a project if you don’t know what the content of the subject is? INVSTIGATE

  3. DESIGN • Designing is the second step of the design cycle in which you lay out your project. The general way it will be done, the type of way you will present a project. In a sense designing is like blue printing a project. It is not to be confused with planning however, since planning is figuring out how you will carry out the initial design. In my Social group, we had to lay out the way the video would be done. We could not just start shooting, we needed to come up with an idea of what we wanted our final output to look like. DESIGN

  4. PLANNING • Planning is the third step in the design cycle. The main purpose of planning if figuring out how to carry out the designs you made. You may have the initial blue print, but you need to know how to execute it in order to make a successful project. In my Social group, we knew what we wanted in our final output but we still needed to plan how we would make it. We had to assign various roles to various members, plan shootings, plan costumes, etc. PLAN

  5. CREATING • Creating is the 4th step in the design cycle. This is the step in which the project is actually made. Where you build something based off the blue prints in the design stage, where you execute the plans you made in the plan stage, where you use everything you learned in the investigate stage. This is one of the more difficult steps, because even if you have very good plans and designs, executing them is a lot more difficult than what it looks like on paper. My social studies group experienced this first hand when we tried filming. Each time we filmed, someone messed up his script, or the lighting wasn’t right and it took several tries to successfully film the project. Editing also took some time because we had to edit out all the errors that we made. However in the end we were able to come up with the output that we wanted. CREATE

  6. EVALUTATING • Evaluating is the “last” step in the design cycle. The design cycle doesn’t end, but this is generally the step you do last. This is the step where you double check your work. You see if it’s worthy of submission. You check if you made any mistakes. Most importantly you look for areas of improvement. You look for parts where you could have done better. Or you look for parts where you think you did well, and take down notes. After editing my Social group took a look at the video we made. There might have been some mistakes here and there but overall we were more or less happy with it. We all learned from it, and the next time any of us have to make a project we will use what we learned. EVALUATE
