  2. 2. Amplified Version gave greater emphasis: • a) Ephesians 5:15-20 • 3. Verse 16 • a) He understood “timing” in and of itself. • (1) Timing is crucial. • (2) Waiting upon God’s timing can benefit! • (a) That man = Caleb!

  3. II. JOSHUA 14:1-15 A. God’s word full of great people! 1. Also full of hero’s. a) Don’t have to go far to find great men of faith! (1) Caleb is such a man!

  4. B. Couple of things about Caleb: 1. He is 85 here. 2. As strong as he was at 45. a) Look at the integrity that was in this man. III. NUMBERS 13:17-14:10

  5. A. Caleb in the “minority”. • 1. Majority of congregation wanted to stone him. • 2. They measured the “giants” against God. • a) Alan Redpath says: • b) Verse 8 • c) His doubt wasn’t in God!

  6. 3. Most who doubted God never see the Promised Land: • a) Numbers 14:24 • (1) Great men and women have a “different spirit”. • (a) Comes from a closeness to God.

  7. (i) Caleb not among those who rebelled against Moses. • (ii) He was “tough”. • (iii) He had a “different spirit”. • (iv) At 85 that Spirit has not diminished! • B. At 85 - It is time!

  8. 1. It is his turn. • a) Kept himself ready! • b) Asks Joshua to fulfill Moses’ promise. • (1) Easy to “step out”! • (2) Proving it - is another thing. • (3) Caleb actually possessing ALL the Lord gave him?

  9. (a) Joshua 15:14 • IV. CONCLUSION • A. Going to read many times “but (they) did not utterly drive them out.” • 1. But Caleb did! • 2. Caleb prospered.

  10. B. What made Caleb successful? • 1. His love to the Lord NEVER faltered. • 2. Close with this question? • a) When opportunity presents itself, will I step out and step up?
