Instructional Technology • Department under “Instructional Support Services” • Work closely with Information Services • Director, 1 lead elementary TIS, 1 lead secondary TIS (Technology Integration Specialist) • 35 ITS (Instructional Technology Specialists) • ITS for campuses under 900 have 2 campuses • 2 half time ITS for Promethean

  5. Role of ITS (Instructional Technology Specialist) • Support integration of technology into instruction • First line of defense for repair and reporting to Information Services • Campus websites • Campus refresh cycle for desktops and laptops

  6. Role of ITS (Instructional Technology Specialist) • Supports all initiatives involving technology • TeacherWeb, STaR Chart, email, curriculum management system, grade book, professional development tracking system, campus/teacher/department wikis, blogs, network management, audio and video productions, broadcast studios, technology fund management, Response to Intervention (RtI) initiatives, Special Education support, Texas Math and Science Diagnostic System (TMSDS), Moodle Integrated Learning System, Novanet, specialized equipment and software for numerous departments & grades levels

  7. ITS on Interactive Campuses • Teacher training on Activstudio, Activotes, Activboard and integrating Aligned Round Rock Curriculum (ARRC) into the interactive classroom • Trouble shoot and problem solve equipment issues • Monitor usage, gather data, share data • Create and share flipcharts

  8. Classroom Equipment • Promethean ActivBoard (Activslate) • Activotes (32) • Activstudio • Teacher laptop • Mounted projector and speakers

  11. Phase 3 – District Initiative2007-08 • Funding - Penny tax (1 of 4 cents from legislature) • Target classrooms - all 3rd and 5th grade classrooms at Title 1 or Bilingual campuses

Professional Development • Training Model for Teachers • Half day sub (funded by Instructional Technology) • Additional after school sessions, half day sessions, conference/planning time, just-in-time training, co-teaching • Summer Professional Development (stipend for teachers funded by Title 1) • 1 full day offered multiple times for basic training • 1 full day offered multiple times for intermediate training • Principal support for teacher release time
