What Can You Do?

For most people, a suicide is a cry for help. They don’t really want to die but have too much emotional pain and don’t know how else to cope.

  • Act calm, let them talk about how they are feeling

  • Don’t challenge them or make comments such as “You don’t have the guts to do that”

  • Offer support, tell them how much they mean to you

  • Urge the person to get help and offer to go with them

  • Don’t promise to keep it a secret, tell an adult
