Role Position Summary: The purpose of this role is to provide oversight, leadership, education, professionalism and regulatory compliance for the acute care advanced practice providers (APPs) at SFGH. The DACAPP will engage & support the service excellence & high clinical quality of the APPs. This position will provide structure to the APP groups at SFGH by integrating administrative, medical, ancillary services as they relate to the clinical responsibilities of the APPs.

Position Qualifications: • Licensure Requirements: Current State of California RN/NP, PA, CRNA or CNM • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the acute care environment with leadership, research, educational, quality, safety & administrative responsibilities. • National Board Certification in chosen specialty area • Educational Requirements: Masters degree required, Phd or DNP preferred • Physical Requirements: See Civil Service Job Description • Individual should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and show evidence of advanced evaluative skills. Experience with managing teams and/or developing APP service lines is a plus.

Major Responsibilities [Highlights]: • Collaborate: among health care providers, • Provide support for balanced work/life, research, mentorship, professional development/advancement, • Advocate • Develop • Contribute • Maintain • Liaise • Ensure the delivery of optimal care to the SFGH patient throughout the care continuum by managing a comprehensive performance improvement program.

[Visionary] Reality Statement Establishing a Director (Chief) of Advanced Practice Acute Care Providers is a visionary step in moving the APP role forward at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH). By providing structure and leadership embodied in the DACAPP, the potential for alignment of APP practice with the goals and mission of SFGH is greatly enhanced. Dedicated organizational support and recognition of the APP role provides a mechanism to build on the nationally recognized trauma, surgical specialties, medicine, women & children’s programs at SFGH to develop new strategic initiatives that promote high quality, cost-effective patient care.
