  2. Although court reporter profession is somehow underrated, court reporting plays an important role during legal proceedings. This paved way to the increasing need for court reporting services. In fact, the court reporting industry is predicted to grow even more in the coming years and will provide more jobs to county court reporters not just in Atlanta but in the entire country as well. • During the 2008 global financial crisis, many countries have suffered tremendously including the United States. In the United States alone, roughly 5.5 more millions of people have lost their jobs during the acute stage of the crisis according to some reports. As the economy stumbled, unemployment and debt increased. It was one of the toughest moments in the U.S not just for the elite but also for the common people.

  3. Even when the economy has started to show signs of recovery, finding a job was still a real struggle. Many businesses have filed bankruptcy which led to themass layoff of some employees. In Atlanta, Georgia, for instance, the unemployment rate rose from 4.8 percent to 5.0 percent during the crisis according to the reports.

  4. Court reporting as a thriving industry in the U.S During the recovery period, court reporting became a thriving industry in the U.S which provided jobs to many Americans. It somehow helped in reducing the number of unemployed individuals in the country. But just like any other industries, there are many challenges that court reporters faced and one of those challenges was the advent of technologies that could possibly replace human reporters.

  5. The use of digital recording Many courts in the US today are utilizing modern technologies like digital recording to minimize the cost and to efficiency gather information. Perhaps, to avoid human errors also especially when important details were omitted. Another challenge that this industry is facing is the fact that there are only very few people who are interested in this kind of job. But despite that, the court reporting industry is predicted to grow even more in the coming years and will provide more jobs to county court reporters not just in Atlanta but in the entire country as well. There are a few institutions in the US that provide training for those who choose to be one of the certified court reporters for legal matters. This is to supply the huge demand for court reporters in the region as well as to the entire country. The average yearly salary for a court reporter is approximately $50,000.

Becoming a Court Reporter People who chose to be court reporters must immerse himself to the different legal terminologies as this career requires good communication skill which includes good listening skill. Every court reporter in Atlanta must see to it that everything he recorded or transcribed is clear and accurate.

  7. Also, court reporters must equip themselves with technological skills to develop the speed needed to capture every detail while legal matters are discussed inside the court. It is very crucial for a court reporter to be very keen on capturing all the details discussed in the courtroom so that it will not cause any disastrous incident. Before an aspirant court reporter be allowed to work inside the court, he must undergo a certification process both from NVRA and Board of Court Reporting. Only certified court reporters must be allowed practice the profession. This is to ensure that each court reporter aspirant is competent and is following the standards set by the industry.

  8. Although court reporter profession is somehow underrated, court reporting plays an important role during legal proceedings. This paved way to the increasing need for court reporting services. In Atlanta, many court reporters are needed as there is no enough supply for the huge demand of court reporters. They transcribe all pieces of information uttered by legal authorities within the four corners of the courtroom which makes them undeniably smart and talented. The recording of every vital information inside the court can never be taken for granted because it is a profession like no other. It requires skills, perseverance, passion, and accuracy to ensure one’s success in the field of court reporting.
