  2. The aims of Strategic Change: Briefings in Entrepreneurial Finance Reaching wide audiences in research on entrepreneurship and innovation The fields of interest include strategic plans of growth-oriented entrepreneurial organizations

  3. The “business” model of the journal Since 2010, with the encouragement of Wiley’s UK branch, the journal has adoptedthe model of thematic issues. Similarly to few other journals, including Oxford Review of Economic Policy.

Thetwin Oxford Review of Economic Policy model Volume 34, Issue 4, Winter 2018 Entrepreneurship Unlike most other economics journals, the Oxford Review of Economic Policy is thematic: each issue deals with one particular topic, e.g. consumption, economies in transition, exchange rates, etc. This being the case, the editors tend to approach people in the appropriate field and ask them to write on a particular subject, rather than wait to see what is submitted. This is not to say, however, that we do not accept unsolicited articles.

Pros and Cons of the thematic model The pros include a proposed wider view of the subject matter compared to the “regular” model with heterogeneous papers collected in no apparently systematic logic. The cons include a more demanding job on the side of the editorial management and organization.

  6. Organization of the thematic issues by networking The thematic issues involve stimulation, organization, and direction of network groups by encouraging ex ante mutual inspiration and refereeing, increasing integrity and fostering research ethics. The contribution of networking is key to this crucial aspect of academic publishing. Ex-post checking by simple peer reviewing is not sufficient to prevent downgrading performance.

  7. On the problem of scientific publishing On 30 March 30 2017, The Economistwrote: “Science needs to stop relying so much on journal publication as the only recognised credential for researchers and the only path to career progression.” See, for example, the numerous critical articles on academic publishing in social sciences on The Economist, e.g. October, 6th-12th Oct. 2018, pp. 70-71 and p. 76 among the latest ones.

  10. Where the contributions have come from Geographic diversification have been reached with contributions by authors from all continents, although with a higher concentration in the U.K., continental Europe, and the U.S.A.

Artificial intelligence As for the artificial and social intelligence we wish to continue with a number of future thematic issues addressing important questions that are posed by their future development. All these issues will be driven by interaction between contributors under the editorial guidance.

  13. What is really AI? What really is “artificial intelligence” and what is “social intelligence”? What are their extensions and future limits, if any? May computers become living beings with their subconscious and apparently irrational behaviour? Arguably, these features are typically the strength rather than the weakness of human intelligence. Will ever AI be able to engage entrepreneurship?

  15. The article just published by Damir Tokic on AI replacing human discretion in full automated investment programis one example of how we can proceed in this exciting innovative field. This reminds us of the dreaded automated “short selling” speculations in the financial exchange markets, but we can now listen directly from him the results of his research.
