  2. What are healthcare grants? • The federal government, state and local municipal governments, private organizations, and corporations, universities, and private donors all award health grants for research, health care for children, cancer and other diseases. • They also consist of primary care grants, grants for health care facilities, and other types of grants for medical and health care programs.

  3. Who funds them? Centres which provide health care or assistance for the same are funded under Section 330 of the Public Health Services Act -Consolidated Health Center Program.

  4. Funding from Charitable Foundations There are five types of grants that are available to charitable foundations that have tax-exempt non-profit status or have a co-applicant arrangement. They are as follows: • Community Health Center Program - Section 330(e) • Migrant Health Center Program - Section 330(g) • Health Care for the Homeless Program - Section 330(h) • Public Housing Primary Care Program - Section 330(I) • School-Based Health Center Program - Section 330(e)

  5. More Information • To find out more about the kind of grants and the kind of funding that you can receive, the best place to go to is the grants.gov website. • The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is in charge of administering the federal government grants.

  6. Local and State Level Funding • Another critical resource is funding from local and State level agencies. • These agencies have detailed information on their websites about the type of funding offered and the type you may qualify for. • You can also find private and corporate grant opportunities by looking on foundation website directories for health care grant award funding opportunities.

  7. Applying for Health Grants • You need to understand guidelines and exclusions and make sure you’re eligible for the same. • Most of these grants are awarded to non-profit organizations, health care agencies, universities and colleges, municipal governments and schools. • They may be awarded to for profit organizations if their programs are related to medical research or job creation and training.
