  1. Distracted Driving Logan Stuckey

  2. YOU MUST CHOOSE Works cited THE END How I am progressing as a researcher What I Knew What I want to know What I learned about my topic What I learned about research

  3. What I knew • I knew that driving dunk was also driving distracted. • I knew that not only are distractions the things that happen in your car but also distractions are from other drivers or other people out on the road • I knew that distracted driving cause many deaths in the united states. • I also knew that distracted driving is most common to drivers that are either in their teens and are distracted by friends or by adults who think they can drive after drinking at the bar or at parties.

  4. What I want to know • What I would like to know about distracted driving is what bills are being looked at to stop this dangerous act. • I also want to know what cell phone companies are doing to stop texting while driving. • I want to know how to make sure you don’t drive distracted. • The last thing I would like to know is how I can stop others from driving distracted and how I can practice proper car etiquette.

  5. What I learned • I learned that distracted driving is not only driving while intoxicated or driving with distractions but also driving under the influence of medications. • I also learned that even though our drunk driving records have decrease over the last twenty years our drugged driving records have increased. • I learned that the real definition of distracted driving is being inattentive, emotional, or careless. Or using a cell phone, fax machine, eating, or navigation system while driving.

  6. What I learned Pt.2 • I learned that texting while driving resulted in an additional 16,000 deaths from 2001-2007 • I also learned that a total of 51857 deaths occurred due to distracted driving from 1999 to 2008 • I also learned that on an average weekend nearly 4% of the drivers on the road tested positive for drugged driving. • I learned that 80.2% of DWI/DUI’s are given to males, usually aging anywhere from 21 to 34. • I also learned that Speeding is a very high reason for deaths of 16 year old drivers. A total of 37%.

  7. Progression as a researcher • I learned that you can copy the MLA formatted citations from the power library site. • Learned that I can use Delicious.com for bookmarks. • I learned I can print out pages from books and use them for research. • I learned that most of my information is going to come from Power Library.

  9. The End….. Or is it • This is the end of my presentation but should not be the end of my research. Or the end of trying to stop distracted driving. • Until the highest cautions are made people will be distracted and accidents will happen.  Safe driving  Distracted driving
