  2. What do these have in common?

  3. They are all elements of symbolism; parts of William Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth.”

  4. The frogs are a part of the opening scene with the storm, fog, howling cats, and the presence of the foul filthy air. These elements are all symbols of bad things to come and also sets the tone of the play.

  5. THE WITCHES ARE SYMBOLIC OF THE SUPERNARURAL AND THE UNDERWORLD; THEY ARE EVIL.

  6. LADY MACBETH WAS CONSIDERED TO BE SHAKESPEARE’S GREATEST VILLAINESS. SHE WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO BECOME QUEEN – EVEN IF IT MEANS MURDERING HER OWN CHILD.

  7. MACBETH WAS A WEAKLING, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS DESIROUS OF BECOMING KING. HE HAD THE FULL SUPPORT OF HIS WIFE, LADY MACBETH. THEY WOULD STOP AT NOTHING TO FULFILL THEIR DESIRES OF RULING THEIR OWN KINGDOM.

  8. THE CASTLE AND KINGDOM TO BE RULED BY MACBETH AND HIS QUEEN

  9. Lady Macbeth: He has almost supped. Why have you left the chamber? Macbeth: Hath he asked for me? Lady Macbeth: Know you not he has? Macbeth: We will proceed no further in this business: He hath honored me of late, and I have bought golden opinions from all sorts of people, which would be worn now in their newest gloss, not cast aside so soon.
