  3. Basic Rules for Class • Treat everyone with respect and kindness.

  4. OFF-LIMITS WORDS • “Retard” / “Retarded” • ANY racial, religious, or lifestyle slurs • “Shut up” • “You’re stupid” / “I’m stupid” • ANY name-calling, jokingly or otherwise • This applies to class, the hallways, texting, and social media.

  5. Basic Rules for Class • Arrive prepared—both mentally and physically—to do your best work.

  10. Entering the Classroom • Arrive before the bell and sit in your assigned seat. Begin working on the HazAhora(Warm up) assignment. • You may talk quietly to the people next to you until class begins. • Use this time to sharpen pencils, go to the bathroom, organize your belongings, write in your agenda, etc.

  11. 3 Tardies = Silent Lunch Excessive Tardies = Detention

  12. Personal Property • Bring your own materials to class and ask to borrow what you need. • Stay away from Srta. Paschal’s desk!!! (I don’t go through your backpack, you don’t go through my desk.) • If you borrow something, take care of it and return it to the owner.

  13. Late Work • I won’t chase you down for missing work. If I have to ask for more than a week, it’s a zero. • [full policy outline in syllabus]

  15. Correction Cycle 1: Non-verbal warning (“The look,” hand signal, etc.)

  16. Correction Cycle 2. Verbal Warning + ClassDojo (If you choose to continue, a consequence will occur.)

  17. Correction Cycle 3. Possible Consequences • Better Choices form (every time) • Time Out • Silent lunch • Parent contact • Morning detention (8:25-8:45) • Loss of class privilege • Office Referral/Detention

  18. Rewards! • Points in ClassDojo • Spend positive points in the Tienda (store) • Whole class rewards – ideas?

  19. TOTD – Ticket Out the Door • On back of “Yo Soy” Worksheet, write down: • One thing I need to know about you (Ex: I like to sit in the front, I don’t like this, I like that, anything.) • One thing you want to learn about in Spanish this year • A simple goal for this semester
