CCR Requirements • The CCR requires Community Water Systems (CWSs) to provide CCRs to their customers, giving an annual report on water quality. • The GWR amends the CCR requirements and includes language to be used when informing the consumers of significant deficiencies and fecal indicator – positive results in ground water source samples. • http://www.ccriwriter.com/

CCR Requirements (cont’d.) • The CCR requires Community Water Systems (CWSs) under the GWR to include the following information: • Fecal indicator positive source water samples • Significant deficiencies that are left uncorrected at the end of the calendar year being reported • CWSs must provide special notice annually until the state determines significant deficiency is corrected and fecal contamination is addressed • The special notice would include whether source contamination has been addressed and dates of actions • Potential health effects language

Public Notification Requirements • The PNR requires all PWSs to give notice to persons served by the water system of a significant event, including violations of national primary drinking water regulations (NPDWRs) and waterborne emergencies. • The GWR amends the PNR by requiring notice for detection of a fecal indicator (E. coli) in a ground water source sample, treatment technique violations, and monitoring violations. • http://www.pniwriter.org/

  14. Variances and Exemptions • The GWR rule is a microbial rule and variances and exemptions are not granted for microbial rules by the Drinking Water Program.
