  5. Administrative Medical Assisting • Typing • Filing • Answering the phone • Billing • Insurance • Pegboard • Appointment Scheduling

  6. Clinical Medical Assisting • Vital signs • Injections • Phlebotomy • Height and Weight • Wrapping Instruments • Sterile trays for minor surgery

  7. State if it is administrative or clinical medical assisting. • Faxing a letter. • Calling in a prescription • Giving a vitamin B injection • Setting up an appointment • Sterilization Techniques

  8. Medical assistants deal with the public; therefore, they must be: • neat and well groomed • be courteous • pleasant manner

  17. Medical Transcriptionist – transcribes medical documents. • Physical Therapist – assists with rehabilitation of bones and muscles. • RN – Registered nurse • Medical Records Technician – responsible for the medical records in a hospital

  18. Nurse Practitioner – advance level nurse • Radiation Therapy Technologist – takes x-rays. • EKG Technician – picks up the electrical impulses of the heart.
