This location offers very promising strategic communication advantages.

  4. NATURAL POTENTIAL IN THE SIDI BOUZID GOVERNORATE The potential in various natural resources is important. These resources allow a profitable exploitation of : • Various natural resources (gypsum, clay, marble, sand,…) useful for several purposes such as brick manufacturing and marble for construction, gypsum, glass, decoration, pavements ... • Natural sources conducive to the creation of a spa and to the development of local and international tourism (Rabbamwa Ain, ...).

  5. Distribution of resources deposits

  6. HUMAN RESOURCES IN THE SIDI BOUZID GOVERNORATE Human resources are a great wealth of the region of Sidi Bouzid, qualitatively and quantitatively.  More than 7000 graduates from higher education and professional training in key disciplines, are available on the job market.  This mass of people, from Sidi Bouzid, gives a guarantee to the development investment.

  7. AGRICULTUREIN THE SIDI BOUZID GOVERNORATE Despite a development well below its potential, the products of agriculture in Sidi Bouzid contribute up to 13% of national output.

  8. AGRICULTUREIN THE SIDI BOUZID GOVERNORATE • Agricultural output is perishable. It is transported as it is to urban centers, which causes losses that affect profitability. • We propose to : • Create farms producing organic products to reduce the danger of chemical defoliants, improve public health and increase the preferential sale of these products, • Create well drillings through irrigation schemes (collective schemes), • Electrify wells and well drillings already operated. • The promotion of food industry (processing of agricultural products at the regional level: organic olive oil conditioning, dewatering and drying fruits and vegetables, creating slaughters of red meat ...) would be very profitable. This industry would provide value to local products, to agricultural work and finally stabilize the rural population.

  9. INDUSTRY IN SIDI BOUZID GOVERNORATE • In the industrialfield: • Five delegations of SidiBouzid are part of regional development areas with investment allowances of 15% instead of 25% as the other seven delegations (ZD priority), • Lack of premises near the new developers for the creation of their projects, • Existence of a single industrial area (20 ha) improperly operated.

  10. INDUSTRY IN THE SIDI BOUZID GOVERNORATE • The measures under discussion, to be taken immediately : • The revision of the code of incentives benefits, • The creation of industrial zones including one dedicated to new technologies with the proper equipment, • The effective and sustainable improvement of the existing road infrastructure, inside and outside of cities, • The entrance of the region of Sidi Bouzid in the era of modern communications, • The creation of a high-quality hospital, • The creation of aSchool of advanced technologythat would be a contribution to the development of the region, •  The enhancement of the hotel sector in Sidi Bouzid.

  11. CITY PLANNING OF SIDI BOUZID City planning is essential to make Sidi Bouzid a better place to live. Participation in the cleanliness of the city and in more attractive green areas are urgent ...

  12. YOUTH • A network of young entrepreneurs, of micro and medium projects, is present and active in SidiBouzid. Most of these projects are blocked mainly because of a lack of funding, incidental to banking and administrative problems. These young entrepreneurs come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Even armed with their diplomas, they can not afford to finance their first step into the projects adventure. • It is urgent to overcome these obstacles by : • Funding the "capital" section of the projects with a personal refundable advance, • Supporting more closely these young promoters by professional coaches, with bonuses for success in support. • These incentives to participate would restart blocked projects, and provide immediate employment.

  13. PROPOSALS Finally,  a database identifying the capabilities and potential of Sidi Bouzid Governorate  should be created by the Centre for Strategic Development Studies of Sidi Bouzid. This data would be an essential public source to know the area and make it attractive. This is a draft solutions proposal, that should be developed and adapted to various situations observed on the ground.
