  1. A Tutorial on Temporary Hair Removal A basic, quick “how to” on waxing and the two best types of wax that is out there. By Alison Hansen Hullinger (:

  2. Wax… in general • Waxing is a very popular form of temporary hair removal. It is my personal favorite, and yes, I consider myself a mini pro. It also happens to be a very fun part of Esthetics. • There are several types of wax out there, the brand Cirepil being my fave. • There are also a couple of different ways you can use wax; either soft wax with strips or the hard wax that doesn’t require strips.

  3. Soft waxing is waxing with the use of strips to get the hair out of the pores and off the skin. • With this type of wax, you always apply it in the direction of the hair growth, lay the strip on top, smooth it down, and pull it off in the opposite direction. (against the grain) • You mostly use soft wax on areas like your legs, arms, and eyebrows, if you so desire. Soft Wax

  4. Hard wax is used without the aid of strips. • As you can probably guess, as it is a harder wax, it dries faster. Thus making it a faster waxing procedure. • You put it on basically any direction, but it is recommended and easiest with the direction of the growth. • To get it off: you want to create a lip at the edge so that you can grasp it and get it off. • Hard wax is my favorite for facial waxing. It doesn’t make your face all red afterwards. Hard Wax

  5. Nose waxing is surprisingly very fun and also quite popular. A popsicle stick with hard wax on the very edge, is inserted to the very inside of the nostril and left to dry. After its dry, (your clue will be a light clicking when you tap on it) you pull it out! You will have a stick with hairs all over it! Gross, yes, but cool. • Ps. A word of advice, don’t take the stick out with the wax still inside. No good. COME GET ‘YER NOSE WAXED!!

  6. Conclusion • There you have it. The two types of wax used for one of the most common forms of temporary hair removal. Soft wax with strips, and hard wax without!!
