  1. Technology and Design Key Stage 3 To design and model a Mobile Phone Holder Task: II Developing ideas through modelling RA Moffatt. AAO

  2. Learning Intentions: • WALT: We are learning to - • use card and fixings to design and develop a 3D model; • use front, side and isometric views as a starting point for sketching your design ideas; • 3. develop and use criteria to assess your work. How would we know that we have been successful?

  3. Learning Intentions: Card Modelling • WALT: We are learning to: – • model in card - scoring, cutting, folding, interlocking, pivot, hinge joining and gluing; • measure accurately and work to a scale 1:1; • understand what is meant by proportion; • mark out a profile;

  4. Learning Intentions: Card Modelling WALT: We are learning to: – 5. use templates; 6. understand the process of line bending using card/acrylic sheet; 7. relate the construction techniques in card to a resistant material / acrylic plastic.

  5. Learning Intentions: • WALT: We are learning to: - • 8. draw light construction lines; • 9. draw parallel lines; • 10. draw lines to scale 1:1; • 11. use isometric template to sketch in pictorial • 12. draw two views of a simple working drawing; • 13. add three important dimensions to a working drawing;

  6. Success Criteria: • WILF: What I’m looking for • An imaginative yet simplistic design; • A card model - accurately cut out / neatly folded; • A model that supports your mobile phone – a design that works; • Good 2D / 3D sketches – showing clarity, detail of how the idea works, parallel lines, in proportion etc; • Some understanding of pictorial drawing; • 6. A model / design that can be made using the given resistant material;

  7. Success Criteria: • WILF: What I’m looking for • An imaginative yet simplistic design; • A start may be made by Looking at :- • Man, women, or animal profiles

  30. Suggested Mobile Phone Designs

  31. Activity Description: Time - approximately 8 x 35min periods; Theory / Workshop demonstrations: The pupils study the process and constraints of accurately filing to an internal radius. Manufacture: To manufacture accurately to a profile / template or pattern and to understand a basic working drawing; Applied Design: to design and manufacture the body of the Mobile Phone Holder.
