  1. We will begin by making the sign of the Cross Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen We pause to think of any special intention we want to pray for today. We light our Form Candle for all our prayers today.

  2. Monday 24th June – The Birth of Saint John the Baptast Reader: Jesus called his cousin John the greatest of all those who came before him “I tell you, among those born of women, no-one is greater than John…” but John would have completely agreed with what Jesus added, “Yet the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he is.” (Luke 7:28) Reader: “To keep his promise, God has raised up for Israel one of David’s descendants, Jesus, as Saviour, whose coming was heralded by John when he proclaimed a baptism of repentance for the whole people of Israel.” (Acts of the Apostles 13:24)

  3. Together we pray… God our Father, John heralded the coming of the saviour. May we be heralds of your Gospel, spreading your joy and the message of your salvation throughout the world. Amen Pray for Fr Frank Higgins, parish priest of Our Lady, Help of Christians parish, Kirkby-in –Ashfield who celebrated on Sunday his Ruby Jubilee of Ordination to the priesthood

  4. Tuesday 25thJune Reader: Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs, or they may trample them into the ground and then turn on you and tear you to pieces. ‘So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the meaning of the Law and the Prophets.” (Gospel of Matthew 7:26) Together we pray: Lord, we are created in your image, which gives us our Christian dignity. May we always work to uphold the dignity of all human life and so create a world of friendship, trust and harmony. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

  5. Wednesday 26thJune Reader: Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles. In the same way a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit.’ (Gospel according to Matthew 7:15-16) Together we pray: Shine through us Lord, that every soul we come in contact with may feel your presence in their souls, stay with us, then we shall shine as you do; so to shine as to be light to others. Amen (Cardinal Newman)

  6. Thursday 27th June Reader: Jesus said to his disciples: “everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like the sensible man who built his house on rock. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against the house, and it did not fall; it was founded on rock. But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck the house, and it fell, and what a fall it was!” (Gospel of Matthew 7:26-28) Reader: Lord may our lives be built upon the solid rock that belief in you offers. Give us the strength to do our best and the hope to carry on despite our difficulties. Lord, our rock, we praise you. Amen

  7. Friday 28th June – Saint Irenaeus Reader: “After Jesus had come down from the mountain large crowds followed him. A leper came up and bowed low in front of him, “Sir”, he said “if you want to, you can cure me.” Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him and said. “Of course I want to, be cured!” And his leprosy was cured at once. (Gospel of Matthew 8:1-3)
