    5. 5 Differences Signposting No dedicated building programme No ring-fenced funding 5-14 All schools expected to deliver by 2010 Governed by schools governing body Children’s centres Direct delivery Phase 1 and 2 funded premises Funding for core staffing and running costs 0-5 Targeted rollout linked to deprivation Governance by multi agency partnership

    15. 15 Making it work Build it in – don’t bolt it on Talk to others – don’t try to do it on your own Know why you are doing it Make sure there is something for everyone, including families Actively involve young people in planning Make sure you know you are making a difference – could attract funding Celebrate success - publicity attracts people, ideas, help and funding Prioritise within the school budget – be prepared to step outside the comfort zone KISS – keep it simple Are they hard to reach families? Or hard to reach services? Its not always what you do – it’s the way you do it!
