  2. About • In 1996, Congress amended the, “Safe Drinking Water Act”. It was then drafted in 1974. It is a National act. • It was established to protect the quality of drinking water in the U.S. • Focuses on all waters above ground or underground that are designed to drink and not to drink.

  3. Function and Affect • Water providers must constantly test the levels of specific contaminants of treated water, and then report the results to EPA. • Provided drinking water standards for big cities to roadside camping grounds. • Keeps water clean from hazardous injections due to, “fracking”.

  4. Environmental Protection Agency • Under the SDWA, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is in charge of establishing water treatment standards, and techniques.
