  2. Prepare • Create your presentation • What resources are available? • OHP - Transparencies • 35 mm projector - 35mm slides • Computer & projector – Powerpoint slide show

  3. Presentation at Birkbeck? • CCS rooms – Dave Willcox (6331) • Other rooms – Ahmed Thorlu –Bangura (6220) • OHP’s (all rooms) – Ahmed • Printing OHP’s – Print Room 6300

  4. Away from Birkbeck? - Find out • What projection equipment is supplied? • Is a computer supplied? • Is there an AV support person that you can discuss your needs with?

  5. Computer supplied? • Does it have a CD-ROM drive? (CCS have a CD-ROM writer) • Which version of Powerpoint are they using? • Which version of Windows?

  6. Computer supplied? • Take with you • 2 copies on floppy disks (or CD-ROMs) And • A backup set of transparencies

  7. Your own computer? • Take with you • Your computer, cables, mains lead • 2 copies on floppy disks (or CD-ROMs) And • A backup set of transparencies

  8. Pack & Go • A Powerpoint utility to store your files on floppy disks (and get them back again!) • Why do I need floppy disks? • To transfer your presentation to another computer if you aren’t taking your own • Backup if your own computer fails & you have to borrow

  9. Choose File, Pack and Go

  10. Pack & Go Wizard starts- click on Next>

  11. Pick a presentation

  12. Choose destination (A: is floppy disk)

  13. Choose links (include fonts if you use special ones)

  14. Include viewer if you aren’t sure what is available on the PC that will be used for the show. It will increase the size of the file

  15. Click on Finish to pack & go

  16. Recovering your files on another computer • Use a file management utility • Double click on the icon on the desk top Windows Explorer My Computer

  17. Start Windows Explorer • Double click on Windows Explorer icon on desk top • I’ve chosen Detail view from the View menu so I can see creation dates

  18. 3. Double click to run the pack & go file 1. Click to see drives on My Computer 2. Click to select A: (floppy disk)

  19. 1. Type the name of your destination folder (mine is AP) 2. Click on O.K

  20. 1. If folder does not exist then you can create it.

  21. Click on Yes to run show now Click on No to run show later

  22. Exercise – print slides • Save the presentation that you wish to present next week. • Print a set of slides that can be used to prepare OHP transparencies. • You may also wish to print speakers notes and handouts.

  23. Exercise – Pack & Go • Insert a floppy disk in the drive • Use the Pack & Go utility to create a copy of your presentation. • Create another back up copy

  24. Exercise – Come & unpack • If you are planning to use your own computer for your presentation next week you may wish to unpack your files to your own hard drive. • If you will be using the CCS Tutor’s PC then practice on the PC that you are currently working on

  25. Exercise – Come & unpack (cont) • Insert the floppy disk containing your presentation into the floppy disk drive • Start Windows Explorer & run the file pngsetup.exe on the A: • On your own computer unpack to C:\me • On a CCS computer unpack to N:\My Documents
