Filtering scans scan groups

Filtering Scans & Scan Groups

Accessing scan results

Accessing Scan Results

Creating scans

Creating Scans

  • Think about what you are trying to accomplish with your scan

  • Target specific pages/transaction paths

  • Test run scans first with lower level settings to make sure they do what you want, then let them crawl deep

  • Include only the checkpoints you need

  • Plan your scans…

Name your scans

Name Your Scans

  • Avoid long names:

    • June 7 2013 Tuition and Financial Aid Department Broken Link Scan

  • Use shorter meaningful names:

    • TFA Bkn Link 20130607

Naming convention sample

Naming Convention Sample

  • Determine a format:

[Dept or Grp] [Guideline] [Type of Scan] [Date or Qrt]

  • “Penn State Alumni Association WCAG 2.0 Level AA First Quarter 2013” becomes…

    PSAA WCAG2-AA 2013 Q1

  • “Undergraduate Admissions WCAG 2.0 Level AA Create a MyPennState Profile Transaction Path” becomes…

    UA W2AA Trans Create Profile

Running scans

Running Scans

  • Consider the size of your scan

    • How many levels?

    • How many pages?

  • Consider the checkpoints

    • Checkpoints can eat up time

  • Consider the load on server or network load

  • For scans that take time, schedule them to run during off-peak hours

Easier to show the rest

Easier to ‘show’ the rest…

  • Let’s do a live walkthrough…
