  1. G R A V I T Y Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation

  2. - is a force pulling together all matter. Galileo introduced the concept of gravity

  3. ISAAC NEWTON

  4. The idea of Galileo was later used by Sir Isaac Newton in his famous Laws of Universal Gravitation. To him, it meant that both objects were speeding up at the same rate regardless of their masses. In other words, all falling objects accelerate in the same rate.

  5. A force must be present if an object is accelerating. The acceleration of a falling object is due to the force or gravity between the object and the Earth. This gravity or acceleration due to gravity has a constant value of 9.8 m/s.

  6. Newton arrived at the idea that represented the first law or universal forces. A universal law applies to all objects in the universe. Newton’s law of Universal Gravitation states that all objects in the universe attract each other by the force of gravity.

  7. What are the relationships between force, mass and distance?? Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation: F = G m1 m2 d2 G gravitational constant M1 M2 are the masses of the 2 objects d2 the square of the distance between the 2 objects

  8. It is gravity that bids us to the earth and holds the earth and other planets in the solar system. The gravitational force plays an important role in star’s evolution, as well as behavior of galaxies. Gravity holds the entire universe together.

  9. Newton’s Second Law of Motion Force = mass x acceleration can be rewritten in terms of weight to show the relationship Weight = mass x accelerationdue to gravity W= mg
