  2. Why? • “Start With Why” and “Find Your Why” by Simon Sinek • Our WHY is the purpose, cause or belief that drives every organization or every person’s individual career • Your why statement is universal • Getting to your why is speaking from your core values

  3. How do great leaders get people to want to be a part of what theydo?

  5. Corporate Example • Apple’s competitors have access to the same talent, same consultants and same media as Apple. So,what makes APPLE moresuccessful?

  6. MARTIN LUTHERKING JR Was not the only man who suffered in a pre-civilrights America! Not the only great orator ofthe day! So, Why is it that HE led the civil rightsmovement?

  7. Can we name other leaders who galvanized change by their beliefs?

  26. Your WHY Statement should be • Simple and clear – one sentence • Actionable • Focused on how you’ll contribute to others • Expressed in affirmative language that resonates with you • Evergreen – personal and professional • To _____(contribution) so that _____(impact)

  27. Impact • To make people feel welcome and included in the club • To change a life • Creating opportunity • Changing the mentality • Empowering more members to step to leadership

  28. Impact • Improve the outcomes for others (girls and women through increased service, education and advocacy) • To change the awareness of inequality and to speak out about the inequality in society
