  1. Discuss Current Game Developments By Brandon Cockerill

  2. PS4/Xbox One • Ps4 is outselling the Xbox One on a ratio of 1.5:1 in the UK. • Analysts agree that the PS4 will 'win' the 2014 console war too. They think that the PS4 will sell 12 million units in 2014, to the Xbox One's nine million. • Xbox one big design means it will last long and be more reliable. • Titanfall is an Xbox one exclusive, a really hyped sci-fi shooter. • The ps4 is much smaller than the Xbox one, also much lighter • Ps4 doesn’t have a separate power brick • The ps4 is much powerful than the xbox one

  3. Immersive Technology • Immersive technology is really self explanatory, pieces of advanced hardware that make you feel like you're actually in the game and making real time decisions, a fantastic example of this is obviously the Oculus Rift. This is basically goggles which will work on your computer of mobile device, you strap the goggles onto your head and there is a mini TV that shows the game and takes up all your vision, so you will see nothing around you, just the game, this is extremely immersive as you will be viewing the game at all times when you have it on your head, whatever direction you look with the Oculus Rift on your head, the character in game will look in that direction also.

  4. Augmented Reality • Augmented Reality is a type of virtual reality that aims to duplicate the worlds environments in a computer. It is using digitally rendered images onto our real world surroundings, an example of a game including augmented reality is having a digitally rendered car that you can control and move around objects in the real world that you view with your camera

  5. Cloud Gaming • Cloud Gaming is a sort of online gaming, it is different in the sense that you can stream games onto your system instead of downloading the game and having the game take up space on your hard drive, Now with revolutionary NVIDIA GRID cloud gaming technology, you’ll soon be able to stream video games from the web just like videos or music. GRID renders 3D games in cloud servers, encodes each frame instantly and streams the result to any device with a wired or wireless broadband connection.

  6. Open Source • Open source refers to a program or software in which the source code that is used to make the game is distributed to the public that is usually free. Open source code is typically created as a group effort in which programmers improve the code and share the changes within the community. • The motive for this is that the people who made the game are not concerned with proprietary ownership or financial gain will produce a more useful and bug -free product for everyone to use.
