  1. Predicting Products of Reactions 7.11

  2. *To predict the reactions, you must know the types of reactions • Combination Reaction: Two or more elements combine chemically to form a new compound

  3. Decomposition Reaction: When a compound is broken down into two or more elements. Example: • Combustion Reaction: When oxygen reacts with a element or compound by adding heat and light Ex: Burning

  4. Single-replacement Reaction: When a element replaces another element in a compound. • Double-replacement Reaction: Two ionic compounds exchange cations (+ions) to form to different compounds.

  5. Predict if you had R+S on the reactant side, what would be the product if it was a combination reaction? A. R+S → R-S B. R+S → S+R C. R+S → AD D. R+S → RS

  6. Predict what the product side would be in the chemical reaction. RS + TU → RU + TS *These are two ionic compounds and this example shows a double replacement to form two new compounds.

  7. *This shows a single replacement reaction

  8. Homework Question?????How would you balance the following equations? • C2H4+ O2-> 2. PbSO4+ AgNO3->
