Student Senate. What We’re All About…. Fundraising For Students. Every semester, we hold events to raise funds for our Student Essentials Fund (SEF). In the spring, we do Grateful To Give. $1 snacks and beverages are sold. In the fall, we do the Chili Bay Auction.

  1. Student Senate What We’re All About…

  2. Fundraising For Students • Every semester, we hold events to raise funds for our Student Essentials Fund (SEF). • In the spring, we do Grateful To Give. • $1 snacks and beverages are sold. • In the fall, we do the Chili Bay Auction. • Items and gift certificates are donated by local companies; these donations are won by the highest bidder. • On the last day of the auction, we serve free chili.

  3. Locker Rentals • We rent lockers for all semesters. • Spring = $10 • Fall = $10 • Summer = $5 • These funds go towards completing projects around LSC. • $500 yearly goes to the Student Senate Scholarship. • 20% Goes to the Student essentials Fund • A percentage goes to LSC class, club, or group student led projects.

  4. Book Rentals • We rent books for free. • There are a variety of used books available. • Just visit our office, take a look and rent a textbook!

  5. Teamwork • Teamwork is an important part of Senate as we tackle various projects throughout the year. • Student issues & problem solving • Fundraisers and support • Master Facilities Plan involvement • Projects involving the building • The Legacy Project • Garden project

  6. Did you know that you, as an LSC student, are a member of the MSCSA? • A percentage of your tuition funds the MSCSA events such as Leadership Conferences and the DC Summit. • 31 cents per credit.

  7. The MSCSA advocates for students on a statewide level. It is • “…an association of the Minnesota public two-year college students, which works to ensure accessible, quality, and affordable public higher education while providing students with representation, leadership development, and communication across the state”(MSCSA.org).

  8. Get Involved Now: Photo Contest • In the header of each edition, the Husky Tabloid features a landscape photograph. • Email your (1915 X 610 pixel) landscape photograph as an attachment to the Husky Tabloid Committee. • senate@lsc.edu • Office: E1008
