  1. Using C-BAR More Than Once a Year

  2. Agenda • What is C-BAR • Prerequisite of C-BAR • Why do C-BAR • How to get Started • Open Discussion

  3. What is C-BAR? • C-BAR stands for Chapter Benchmarking And Reporting • Represents actions recommended by APICS to be accomplished by a chapter to be considered highly successful

  4. Prerequisite of C-BAR • Must be in compliance with CPA Requirements

  5. Prerequisite of C-BAR • And guess what, every chapter in this District met the CPA Requirements • So every chapter is eligible to take part!

  6. Why Do C-BAR? • Identifies areas to incorporate into strategic plan/marketing plan • Demonstrates continuous improvement • Provides meaningful metrics and measurements • Helps the chapter become more successful!

  7. Identify areas to incorporate into strategic plan Example: last year chapter did not meet PDM attendance goal You know that because C-BAR (section C) asks if you met your goal So you must set one! In this year’s strategic plan, the board develops ideas to meet their goal and documents those actions This activity helps the board brainstorm ideas and try new things.

  8. Demonstrates continuous improvement Example: last year a chapter worked through C-BAR and achieve bronze status The board is now aware of the requirements and put actions in place to achieve enough points to get to a silver level This activity shows, in a numerical way, continuous improvement By the way, we have chapters in this district that did work the C-BAR worksheet and did not achieve even a bronze level. But they had done the same thing last year and showed improvement year over year

  9. Provides metrics and measurements Example: each section has measurements a chapter can use: How many e-mail letters of introduction, brochures, flyers, or information Packets has the chapter prepared? (Section A) How many separate announcements to your members concerning PDM’s Classes, seminars, etc. did the chapter complete (Section B) How many times did the chapter conduct a joint networking session (Section C) Did the chapter formally recognize at least one instructor during the past Year (Section D)

  10. How to get started • Download the C-BAR manual from the APICS website • As a board, work through the Chapter Planning tab of the C-BAR worksheet • Contact me (sorochab@us.ibm.com)

  11. Open Discussion • 75% of our chapters participate to achieve an award level • 50% of our chapters have achieved Gold • What would you recommend and how has C-BAR helped your chapter?
