2. Writing an Expository Paragraph You have done a survey to collect information about jobs people do in our community. Use your Write On Track handbook to read about the basic parts of a paragraph on pp. 56-57. You will see an example of a topic sentence, the body, and the closing sentence. (See p. 60 for a model of an expository paragraph.
THINK OF YOUR PARAGRAPH AS A HAMBURGER!
3. Step #1- The Top Bun! Think of an interesting statement or question to create the beginning for your paper.
5. Step #2- The meat and toppings! Write complete sentences giving details about this job in a clearly organized manner. Include all the “important key points” as part of the body.
7. Step #3- The Bottom Bun. Your last sentence should restate in your own words what the paragraph was about or give the reader one last idea to think about. (Example: The jobs people do are very important for the people who live in a community.)
