FLL Vision INSPIRES children, ages 9 to 14, to participate in science and technology ENGAGES kids in playful and meaningful learning PROVIDES a fun, creative, hands-on learning experience CHALLENGES kids to solve real-world problems using robotics, research and teamwork skills TEACHES children to experiment and overcome obstacles BUILDS self-esteem and confidence

Opportunities with FIRST Opportunities with FIRST FIRST PROGRAMS: • JrFLL (Junior FIRST LEGO® League) 6-9 years old • FLL (FIRST LEGO® League) 9-14 years old • FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) 14-18 years old • FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) 14-18 years old "To create a world where science and technology are celebrated.. where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes"

  5. Arizona FLL – The Numbers 2013 Season: • 30% Annual Growth in Participation • 300 Teams State-wide • 13 Regional Tournaments Phoenix, Chandler, Scottsdale, Mesa, Flagstaff, Tucson Yuma, Sierra Vista, Winslow • 1 State Championship Tournament • 1,000 Volunteers

FLL Challenge Teams of 3-10 children, ages 9-14, guided by at least 1 adult coach, have 8-12 weeks to: Complete an annual Challenge: • Project Presentation (1/3 of Score) • Analyze, research, and invent a solution on the season theme • Develop a creative presentation about the solution and deliver it to a panel of judges • Robot Interview + Performance (1/3 of Score) • Build an autonomous robot that completes, in 2-1/2 minutes, pre-designed missions • Share with judges what the team has learned by solving problems using robotics • Demonstrate Core Values (1/3 of Score) • Emphasize respect, integrity, friendly sportsmanship and community involvement

We know our coaches and mentors don’t have all the answers; we learn together We honor the spirit of friendly competition. What we discover is more important than what we win. We share our experiences with others. We display Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition in everything we do. We have FUN!
