  11. Comments & Suggestions General Comments  Only a few strategies were identified Fit in with traditional Chinese approaches Some strategies whilst identified weren’t used very often No evidence of any learner training by their teachers

  12. Comments & Suggestions Additional Suggestions  Be aware of the challenges Chinese learners face Identify current strategies learners use Build on traditional strategies when appropriate Help students learn other effective strategies Practise new study skills until they become habits

  13. Example of strategies (vocabulary) • Give them memorisation tasks & dictations • Help them to learn lexical chunks • Provide them with lots of controlled practice • Practise mind-mapping • Give them aural & visual reinforcement • Use Internet resources / software aids
