  2. Directorate for Water of Montenegro Relevant legislation on water quality: Water Law (OJ RMNE, No. 27/07) Regulation on classification and categorization of surface and ground waters (OJ RMNE, No. 2/08)

Directorate for Water of Montenegro Classification and categorization of waters is done for the purpose of protection and improvement of the quality of surface and ground waters Classification of surface waters is done according to their environmental and chemical status and environmental potential

  4. Directorate for Water of Montenegro Categorization of surface waters is done according to the quality that should be maintained or ensured for the purpose of good water status. Classification and categorization of ground waters is done according to their quantitative and chemical status

  5. Directorate for Water of Montenegro Systematic control of the quality and quantity of waters is done by the competent public administration body in charge of hydro-meteorological affairs, with a view to monitoring of the quality of waters depending on the classification and categorization made

  6. Directorate for Water of Montenegro Monitoring of the quality of ground and surface waters is based on the Rulebook on the network of hydrological stations The network of stations for quality of surface waters consists of : 13 watercourses with 66 measurement profiles Three natural lakes with 11 measurement profiles Coastal sea with 19 measurement profiles

  7. Directorate for Water of Montenegro The network of stations for quality of ground waters consists of: Ground waters of the first aquifer of the Zeta plain on nine measurement profiles

Directorate for Water of Montenegro WATER QUALITY The group the heavily polluted watercourses include parts of watercourses of the rivers Vezisnica, Cehotina, Moraca, Ibar and Lim The class of medium polluted watercourses includes the rivers Zeta, Piva, Crnojevica and Bojana The group of the purest watercourses includes the rivers Tara, Grncar, Cijevna and Kutska rijeka

Directorate for Water of Montenegro Waters of the Skadar Lake are mainly within the quality class prescribed Waters of the Plav Lake and Black Lake belong to the high quality class In some profiles, coastal sea is classified in different water quality classes. The highest water quality is laid down for open coast water, while waters of the Kotor Bay are categorized in the higher class.

  10. Directorate for Water of Montenegro One of priorities of the whole world, as well of Montenegro, is to pursue a water policy aimed at setting the minimum conditions for reaching and preservation of a good status of waters and implementation of emission control measures, which shall improve the status of water dependent ecosystems and ensure sustainable use of water, based on long-term protection of water resources available.
