  1. Canadian Refugees & Immigrants By Natalie, Felicia, Megan, Kara, Christina.

  2. What is a Refugee? • A refugee is a person from another country that has fled from their homelands because of a natural disaster, war, or fear of political, religious, or racial persecution. The term “refugee” is commonly used to describe seeking for protection from harm.

  3. The Refugee Lifestyle • Refugees are the world’s most disadvantaged people. Thousands of refugees had to leave their homes to seek economic opportunity in country. They another are always moving to seek a better environment and to get away from harm. Refugees have to feed and care for themselves. When they have food, it is a kind of porridge made with cereal mixed with polluted water of the only well in region. Some refugees live in churches until some one sponsers them and takes them into their homes.

  4. What Is Needed For One To Enter Canada… • Have to be sponsored by the Canadian Government or by a private group. • Fill out a Personal Information Form. • Apply for citizenship at the visa office. • Visit Canadian embassy in the local area. • Find out what category of immigrant that you fell into.

  5. How You Can Qualify To Become A Canadian Citizen… • You have to be at least 18 years old. • Have to be able to speak English or French. • Know Canadian’s rights and responsibilities of citizenship. • Fee of $200 to become a citizen. • Read a study book called “A Look At Canada”. • Have to live in Canada for at least three years. • Live, Work, Own a business, purchase and sell properties anywhere in Canada.

  6. What Is Immigrants? • A immigrant is when the people move to or settle to another country or region. It cant be temporarily or permanently. The usually reside permanently and not a casual visitor or traveler. The term “immigrant” in-migration into a country, and is the reverse of emigration, or out-migration.

  7. Immigrating To Canada… • Every year, Canada welcomes thousands of new residents. Immigrants are excited to come to Canada and experience the lifestyle. • These are some categories of Immigrants.: -Skilled Worker Class. -Business Class. -Provincial Nomination. -Family Class -International Adoption. -Quebec-Selected.

  8. Why People immigrate? People immigrate for the following reasons: • Professional • Political • Economic • Persecution • Sentimental ( I.e., the desire to settle in a country due to personal preference; family reunification).
