Learning Objectives • ALL pupils must be able to describe the different levels of pay in the banana trade. • MOST pupils should be able to explain why different people in the banana trade get different amounts of money. • SOME pupils should be able to suggest ways in which the banana trade could be improved to be fairer for all.

  2. On your own write down two things you learnt last lesson. • Then one question that you would like to ask?

Groups • Get into your groups below. • Group 1: • Olivia, Jordan J, Dharma, Lily & Lee. • Group 2: • Jake, Lisa, Darren, Chantel & Sunny. • Group 3: • Connor, Michaela, Beth, Lennon & Punit. • Group 4: • Jordan K, Jacob, Shadya, Kai & Khairiyah. • Group 5: • Callum, Dillan, Michelle, Emily, Daniel & Neve.

  4. Work out how much your banana would cost if everyone got the amount they wanted. • You task is now to decide how much each person in your group should get of the 30p. • Write this onto your banana split sheet. • EXT: What were the main disagreements in your group? • How did you overcome these disagreements?

  5. Presentations • Peer assessment • Write the names of the people in the group in the top box. • Then two things you liked and one that you think they could improve on. • What makes a good presentation?

  6. Banana Split • How close were you? • What is your first reaction to this? • Is it fair? • Who has the power in this trade?

  7. Unanswered questions • Look back to the question you wrote at the start of the lesson. • Can it now be answered? If so write your answer underneath. • If not then can someone in the class answer it?
