  2. There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates. These classifications are: • Mammals • Fish • Amphibians • Birds • Reptiles

  3. The Piranha is classified as a fish because it: • has gills • lives in the water • has fins • is cold blooded

  4. The Piranha is also a fish because: • It lays egg • It can’t survive on land

  5. Fishy facts for…Piranhas • Piranhas live in the Amazon in South America • Since piranhas have so many taste buds they can tell if the fish is worth eating or not • It’s scientific name is Serrasalmus Natterie • The piranha has no camouflage

  6. Hungry Piranhas Since piranhas are fish they have to find their food underwater. This fish gets his food differently. It eats flesh from smaller fish, and crabs. Piranhas have predators too like people.

  7. TEETH Piranhas protect themselves by their sharp teeth they tear their food with there amazing sharp teeth

  8. HELP! Piranhas find food in small groups and become buddies (just kidding!) not like the dogs (below)

  9. Some more fishy facts for Piranhas • Some people say the human-ripping piranha legend was started by Teddy Roosevelt . • It’s true that a piranha will rarely attack humans.
