  1. Communications Test CFL510G Handheld TDR

  2. The New Megger CFL510G • Auto Set Up • Instant use • Fast 2ns Pulse • Near end fault identification • Long Reach • 15,000 ft maximum range • Simple Operation • 4 way control • Trace hold feature • On screen comparison • High Definition Display

  3. Technology • Well proven • Long used technology • Electrical, telephone and CATV industries. • Increasing in use • Provide information on cable status much faster than other methods. • Some industry commentators suggest that a TDR will be built into many instruments in the future

  4. Product Uses • TDRs are typically used to find existing faults on cables and have more applications in related areas such as: • Defining and proving a cable installation • Establishing a benchmark for future comparison • Cable length measurement (installed and on reel) • Locate and evaluate events such as splices and joints • Detect Bridge taps

  5. Additional Uses • Also research by NASA suggests that Aircraft Maintenance can be aided by regular TDR measurement • TDR may be used to identify chafing of electrical wires on aircraft

  6. Key Product Features – CFL510G • Virtual TDR • Coming soon on MeggerNetworks.com

  7. Key Product Features – CFL510G • High Clarity Display • Aids definition of point of fault • Dual Cursor • With tagged cursor position • Resolution to 0.3 Feet • Fast & accurate fault location • 2ns Pulse • Allowing near end visibility • Trace hold capability • With live trace overlay

  8. Key Product Features – CFL510G • AUTO • Easy set up • HOLD • Allows trace hold on screen • Live trace overlay on Hold • Additional Modes • Gives control over pulse, gain • Input Protection • Cat III up to 300 Volts • Cat IV up to 150 Volts • TNV-3 systems

  9. TDR Overview • TDRs locate and identify faults on metallic paired cable • TDRs look for a change in impedance on the cable • Cable damage, water ingress, taps and slices, flaws, etc. • A pulse of energy is transmitted down a cable • When the pulse reaches the end of the cable, or a fault, part of the energy is reflected back • The reflected pulse can identify the nature and location of the fault • Used in Electrical, telephone and CATV industries. • Provide information on cable status much faster than other methods

  10. Typical TDR Reflections • TDR used to locate cable faults and determine length • Shape of reflected pulse indicates fault type • Knowing VOP for cable allows distance to fault to be displayed • Length of cable on drum can be determined • Variable pulse widths enable location of near and far faults

  11. Key Product Features – CFL510G • Single trace display with dual cursor • 30 ft – 15,000 ft ranges in 6 steps • 2ns fast pulse to allow resolution of close in faults • Trace hold with live trace overlay • Cable Impedance; 25ohm, 50ohm, 75ohm, 100ohm and Auto • Last setting ‘memory’ • Inbuilt blocking filter • 16 hr Battery life • IP54 ingress protection • Safety CATIII 300V (CAT IV 150V)
